The launch

When does Meridiann launch?

2027. The Women's Health Programme is the first ship. Other programmes (Energy, Sleep, Recovery) follow in 2027-2028.

Why so far away?

Hardware takes time. Clinical co-design takes time. Refill manufacturing takes time. We are not rushing — and waitlist members get the benefit of that, because the product they receive will actually work.

Will it ship outside Australia?

Australia first. International expansion follows the first 12 months of operating data. Join the waitlist with your country and we'll keep you informed about what's possible where.

What does the waitlist actually get me?

Three things: early access pricing when we launch (real, not symbolic); Mal's introductory protocol notes (a clinician's-eye view of how to start); and first-batch shipping when devices begin to leave the warehouse.

The product

What is AcuTENS?

Our shorthand for the pairing of acupuncture-point-informed placement (drawn from Dr Mal McKay's thirty years of clinical TCM practice) with transcutaneous electrical-stimulation hardware (TENS — a well-established technology used clinically for decades). The placement, programme, and purpose come from Mal's clinical work; the hardware is mature.

Is Meridiann a medical device?

No. Meridiann is intended to support daily wellbeing rituals as part of a whole-person care approach. It is not a medical device, and it is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Always consult your treating practitioner about any health concern.

How long does the device last?

The hardware is designed for long-term use — many years. The pads are consumables and need replacing every ~60 days; the subscription handles that. The app evolves over time and stays current.

What about safety?

The device meets Australian electrical safety standards for TENS-class hardware. There are conditions where TENS technology is contraindicated — pregnancy at certain stages, pacemakers, certain cardiac conditions — and the app's intake will guide you. Speak with your treating practitioner if you're unsure.

Can I use Meridiann if I'm pregnant?

The first Meridiann programme (Women's Health) is designed for general women's health and is not a pregnancy-specific protocol. We strongly recommend speaking with your treating practitioner before using TENS-class hardware during pregnancy. A specific pregnancy programme is on the longer-term roadmap.

The programme

How long is the Women's Health Programme?

Twelve weeks of daily 20-minute sessions, structured in three phases — establish, adjust, integrate. After the twelve-week arc, most patients move into a 3-4×/week maintenance rhythm.

What does a daily session look like?

Two minutes to check in via the app · two minutes to place the eight pads · fifteen minutes for the session itself (you sit, lie down, listen to a podcast, read) · one minute to reflect on what shifted. Twenty minutes total.

What if I miss a day?

You miss a day. The app doesn't punish you. There are no streaks, no shame copy, no notifications designed to make you feel like you've failed. You pick up the next day.

Can I do the programme with my treating practitioner?

Yes — and we encourage it. Meridiann doesn't replace clinical care. Many patients use it alongside a relationship with their GP, specialist, or acupuncturist. Mal continues to recommend that.

About Mal + Pottsville

Who designed Meridiann?

Dr Mal McKay — AHPRA-registered Doctor of Acupuncture, 30+ years of clinical TCM practice on the Tweed Coast NSW. Mal practises at Pottsville Acupuncture and lectured TCM at Endeavour College for a decade.

Is Meridiann the same as Pottsville Acupuncture?

No. Pottsville Acupuncture is the clinical practice Mal runs on the Tweed Coast NSW — a registered AHPRA-regulated TCM clinic. Meridiann is a separate, standalone wellness product designed for at-home use. The clinical experience that informs Meridiann was built at Pottsville; Meridiann itself is not a clinical service.

Does Mal still see patients?

Yes. Mal continues to practise at Pottsville Acupuncture. Meridiann is in addition to — not a replacement for — his clinical work.

Pricing + payment

How much will Meridiann cost?

We don't have a price yet. We're still working through manufacturing, refill economics, and what makes a daily ritual genuinely sustainable to do. Waitlist members get early access pricing when we lock it.

Will there be a subscription?

The pads (consumables) come on a subscription so they arrive before they run out. The device is a one-off purchase. The app is included. No surprise charges.

Will Meridiann be covered by Medicare or private health funds?

No. Meridiann is a wellness product, not a medical service or device. Medicare and private health funds cover specific clinical services (like the acupuncture you'd receive at Pottsville Acupuncture from Mal directly). Meridiann sits outside that.

Privacy + data

What does the app know about me?

What you tell it. Your intake responses, your daily check-ins, your cycle data if you share it. Stored on-device by default; encrypted in transit; not sold; not used for advertising.

Will my data be used for research?

Only if you opt in, and only in fully de-identified form. We will be transparent about any research collaboration well in advance, and you can opt out at any time without losing access.
