Science + tradition

Three thousand years.
One hardware platform.

Meridiann sits at an unusual intersection — Traditional Chinese Medicine pattern recognition (developed over three millennia), transcutaneous electrical-stimulation hardware (refined over the last forty years), and the daily-ritual app architecture (the part that's actually new).

The tradition

Traditional Chinese Medicine is one of the oldest preventative-medicine traditions in continuous practice anywhere in the world. The texts that ground the work are several thousand years old. The framework — that the body has its own intelligence; that patterns of imbalance precede acute presentations; that treatment supports the body to recalibrate rather than imposing change on it — has shaped how we understand health long before contemporary biomedicine.

What TCM is good at:

What TCM relies on, traditionally:

That last set is where the friction sits for most modern people. We have the practice. We don't have the access.

The technology

Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) is a technology refined across the last four decades for delivering controlled electrical stimulation through the skin. It is widely used clinically in physiotherapy, pain management, and post-surgical recovery. The hardware is mature; the technology is well-understood; the question is always where you place the pads, with what programme, for what purpose.

The Meridiann device is a TENS-class hardware platform — but the placement, programme, and purpose come from Mal's clinical TCM practice rather than from generic pain-management protocols.

What we call AcuTENS

AcuTENS is our shorthand for the pairing: acupuncture-point-informed transcutaneous electrical stimulation. The eight outputs on the device map to the eight points Mal has identified across thirty years of women's health practice. The intensity range is calibrated to clinical effective dose. The session duration matches what Mal would actually do in clinic.

The bridge

What's actually new in Meridiann is the bridge. The hardware is well-known; the tradition is ancient. Putting them together at home, with the structure a clinician would bring — that is what Meridiann is.

The point isn't that the technology is novel. The point is that it has finally been put together with thirty years of clinical pattern recognition. The result is a system you can hold in one hand.

What Meridiann is not

Meridiann does not claim to do anything that isn't supported by what TCM and TENS have been used for, for decades. Specifically:

What we do claim

Meridiann is a daily wellness ritual. It is built around what Mal has clinically learned. It uses a hardware platform that has been clinically tested for decades, applied through a TCM-informed framework that is older still, in a daily structure that is modern.

The rest is up to your body and the time you give it.
